Conversations are the one thing that builds a big base of active support for a frack free Kimberley. We know there is latent support in the community but we need to make that visible.
The Cook Government is about to decide on Black Mountain Energy's Kimberley frack project - so we need to make the community sentiment unmissable particularly across key electorates.
A very effective way to do that is by surveying door-to-door, as we know from Lock the Gate’s successful work nationally with the Gasfield Free process in regional areas, and our recent powerful state election campaign in Fremantle.
In key areas we are surveying local community members and asking to put up a yellow triangle sign to show their support. We then hand over the survey results to the local electorate offices in early December.
So on Sunday 30 November at 10am in Calista or Medina (exact location tbc once you've rsvped) we are meeting to survey the local constituents about our local Member of Parliament and Premier, Roger Cook, and his position on banning fracking in the Kimberley.
No experience is necessary - we will pair you up with an experienced door knocker.
We'll start with a quick briefing and go through the materials, survey for around an hour, then debrief afterwards over a coffee or cool drink!
