  • Fighting Giants - Mt Hawthorn Screening

    Fighting Giants title image

Join this Mt Hawthorn community screening of our new film ‘Fighting Giants’ on Thursday 8 June, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at the Mount Hawthorn Main Hall on Scarborough Beach Road.

The Kimberley has some of the largest intact natural landscapes left in the world. It is also a culturally rich region, home to a living Aboriginal culture that is many tens of thousands of years old, where many Traditional Owners have a deep connection to Country.

But fracking companies are the closest they've ever been to turning the region into an industrial wasteland. So we teamed up with Kimberley Traditional Owners, climate scientists and economists from The Australia Institute to produce this new film.

‘Fighting Giants’ is a rallying call to defend so many things that West Australians value: the stunning, intact landscapes of the Kimberley, our fragile climate, and Aboriginal culture and land.

Join us for this FREE community event where we’ll screen this powerful short film, hear from the Frack Free Kimberley team about ways you can get involved AND you’ll also have the opportunity then and there to write a short, impactful letter to a key state government politician, to express your concerns about fracking.

The event is completely free but spaces are limited so reserve your seat below today.

This event is open to everyone, whether you’re new to the issue or have supported the campaign for a while.  So bring a friend or get a group together for a night of inspiration, motivation and community grassroots change.

In our beautiful south, Denmark is on the way to ‘100% Electric’ run on ‘100% Renewables’ and we need to accelerate this rate of change.  Totally Renewable Denmark (auspiced by Green Skills) is set out to facilitate this change and is driven by knowing that every community needs to make significant changes to transition away from fossil fuels as fast as we can.  As well as community and individual level change, advocacy at a State level is also required FOR Renewables, and AGAINST Gas, Oil + Coal.

This powerful film is a drive to action, and the event will be a special community gathering where you can hear from Simone van Hattem from Lock the Gate Alliance on ways you can support the Frack Free Kimberley campaign, and hear from Rhian Thomas about Totally Renewable Denmarks’ latest news and event happenings. Following the film there will be a 15min Q&A and an opportunity to write a short, impactful letter to a key state government politician, to express your concerns about fracking-  together we can make our voice heard!

We'll also have a table with more information about Totally Renewable Denmark, and Frack Free Kimberley stickers and fairtrade organic cotton T-shirts $30 (cash or card).

RSVP to reserve your free spot!
